Evans, Larry D. – Learning Disability Quarterly, 1996
This article provides the equations necessary to derive a single composite score based on two achievement scores measuring the same discrepancy area in students with learning disabilities. Also provided are the equations necessary to determine the composite score's reliability and its correlation with an IQ score. (CR)

Jitendra, Asha K.; And Others – Diagnostique, 1997
A pilot test of 700 students in grades three, four, and five, investigated the reliability of curriculum-valid mathematics survey tests. The development of the test and the taxonomy of curriculum analysis that was beneficial in test construction is described. Results indicate the effectiveness of the test. (CR)

Rothman, Arthur I.; And Others – Academic Medicine, 1997
A study investigated observable differences in results, not attributable to student competence, in administrations of the same 16-station clinical skills screening examination (Ontario International Medical Graduates Program) to approximately 200 foreign medical graduates and University of Toronto fourth-year medical students. Results indicated…

Lynch, Shirley; Hurford, David P.; Cole, AmyKay – Adolescence, 2002
Evaluates the Lynch Enabling Survey for Parents (LESP), and determines the scale to be reliable and valid. Also examines the differences between at-risk and honors students and their parents' LESP scores. Results reveal that the LESP scores of parents of at-risk students were significantly more enabling than were the responses of parents of honors…

Wongwiwatthananukit, Supakit; Newton, Gail D.; Popovich, Nicholas G. – American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education, 2002
Sought to develop a reliable and valid instrument to measure pharmacy students' self-confidence and to determine the effect of selected demographic variables as independent predictors of self-confidence. Found that the instrument had content validity, high internal consistency reliability, and convergent and discriminant validity. Several…

Vincent, Claude; Dumont, Claire; Bouchard, Daniele; Lesperance, Francoise – Journal of Visual Impairment & Blindness, 2003
The Assessment of Computer Task Performance was developed to evaluate the performance of children with low vision when using sequences of actions that result in a computer command. Results with 22 students (ages 4-12) show that four standardized tasks have high reliability and one has a moderate degree of reliability. (Contains references.)…

Temple, Linda; Lips, Hilary M. – Educational Research Quarterly, 1989
The Collis Attitudes toward Computers Survey, developed by B. Collis (1984) for a secondary school population, was tested with 305 college students attending the University of Winnipeg (Canada). Results support the reliability and generalizability of the survey and identified one dominant factor--personal interest and enjoyment of computers. (SLD)

Wilson, Kenneth M. – Research in Higher Education, 1988
A study of the long-term stability of Graduate Record Examination scores for graduate program admission purposes investigated the changes in scores among test repeaters. Results suggest that long-term test repeaters have greater gains on verbal than quantitative tests. Explanations and implications are considered. (MSE)

Rozeboom, William W. – Applied Psychological Measurement, 1989
Formulas are provided for estimating the reliability of a linear composite of non-equivalent subtests given the reliabilities of component subtests. The reliability of the composite is compared to that of its components. An empirical example uses data from 170 children aged 4 through 8 years performing 34 Piagetian tasks. (SLD)

Hubbard, J. I.; Seddon, G. M. – Research in Science and Technological Education, 1989
Investigates differences in marking standard and reliability when experienced teachers carried out assessments of the performance on practical exercises. The results showed that there was no difference between the assessments from the groups containing 5 and 20 students. (Author/YP)

Weber, Larry – Educational Research Quarterly, 1988
A 34-item instrument for assessing attitudes about merit pay for teachers was developed and administered to 237 teachers and 86 administrators. Two months later, in a replication study, the instrument was administered to 193 teachers, 107 administrators, and 135 parents. The instrument has high reliability. (SLD)

Hakstian, A. Ralph; And Others – Psychometrika, 1988
A model and computation procedure based on classical test score theory are presented for determination of a correlation coefficient corrected for attenuation due to unreliability. Delta and Monte Carlo method applications are discussed. A power analysis revealed no serious loss in efficiency resulting from correction for attentuation. (TJH)
