An unweighted and two weighted measures of children's giving were used in two experiments designed to enhance children's prosocial development. This paper describes the rationale for the construction of the measures, presents data on test-retest reliability and validity as well as treatment outcomes for the two experiments. (Author/LMO)
Descriptors: Analysis of Variance, Correlation, Elementary Education, Prosocial Behavior
Peer reviewedWestbrook, Bert W.; And Others – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 1987
Investigated the reliability and validity of the Revised Research Edition of the Career Planning Questionnaire, an instrument designed to measure six theoretically different aspects of career maturity. Provided a more definitive criterion measure than those used previously, and addressed the issue of alternate forms reliability for two separate…

Peer reviewedPitner, Nancy J. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1988
The internal consistency-reliability and factorial validity of the Substitutes for Leadership Questionnaire were studied in an educational setting, using data from 450 elementary school teachers at 47 schools in Oregon and Washington. Results support S. Kerr's (1977) formulation on leadership substitutes for 11 of the original 13 factors. (TJH)
Descriptors: Elementary School Teachers, Elementary Schools, Factor Analysis, Leadership
Peer reviewedChambers, David W. – Journal of Dental Education, 1988
A discussion of good test criteria reviews the basic concepts of test theory, examines four types of validity, outlines the concept of reliability and its coefficients and limitations, makes suggestions for gauging test quality, and demonstrates use of the standard error of measurement for estimating the likelihood of misgrading. (MSE)
Descriptors: Dental Schools, Higher Education, Professional Education, Statistical Analysis
Peer reviewedGordon, Roberta R. – Journal of Educational Research, 1988
Investigation into the most effective use of a kindergarten screening battery to predict second-grade reading and mathematics achievement found that a combination of 10 readiness subtests resulted in the same degree of accuracy as that obtained using the entire battery. However, neither version was accurate enough to be useful. (Author/CB)
Descriptors: Kindergarten, Mathematics Achievement, Predictive Validity, Primary Education
Peer reviewedWeiss, David J., Ed. – Applied Psychological Measurement, 1987
Issues concerning equating test scores are discussed in an introduction, four papers, and two commentaries. Equating methods research, sampling errors, linear equating, population differences, sources of equating errors, and a circular equating paradigm are considered. (SLD)

Peer reviewedFimian, Michael J. – Psychology in the Schools, 1988
Investigated internal consistency and split-half reliability of Teacher Stress Inventory (TSI) based on data provided by 3,478 teachers. Data indicated for both the strength and frequency dimensions that the TSI was highly reliable in terms of both its regular and short-form length, and that the two short forms were highly correlated with each…
