The reliability and validity of the Mathematics Anxiety Rating Scale was investigated on two samples of undergraduates. The results support the reliability and validity of the instrument. (JKS)

An aspect of construct validity of the six scales of the Career Maturity Inventory was investigated with 127 ninth-grade students. The scales were found to be more highly intercorrelated than is desirable. Coupled with their modest reliabilities, this outcome was interpreted as a major limitation of the instrument. (Author)

It was found that the General Cognitive Index scores of the McCarthy Scales correlated well with the Stanford-Binet IQ scores. However, 40 of the 44 subjects scored higher on the Stanford-Binet than on the McCarthy Scales. (Author)

Three algorithms for selecting a subset of originally available items, to maximize coefficient alpha, were compared on the size of the resulting alpha and computation time required with nine sets of data. This report is a review of reliability data on the PPVT obtained from 32 research studies published between 1965 and 1974. For average children in the elementary grades, and for retarded people of all ages, PPVT scores remained relatively stable over time and there was close equivalence between alternate forms. (Author)

This paper describes a recently developed test battery which measures inquiry skills relevant to social studies teaching. The test is used to assess entry-level inquiry skills and to monitor student achievement progress. Field tested among Australian junior high school students, the test was shown to be reliable and valid. (BC)

The Personal Orientation Inventory (POI) is supposedly resistant to faking. This assumption was experimentally tested with 156 naive adult college and military participants by manipulating instructional set.
