Kristof, Walter – 1972
The coefficient of precision type of reliability originally defined for scalar variables is generalized to vector variables and named vector reliability. The new coefficient ranges from zero to one. Additional basic properties of vector reliability are derived. Vector information is defined as a simple function of vector reliability. A number of…

Ivens, Stephen H. – 1972
A discussion of criterion-referenced measures is presented. Two characteristics define the criterion-referenced measure: the presence of a performance criterion, and test items keyed to a set of behavioral objectives. The performance criterion, in an educational setting, is usually a relative standard of performance. There are two ways of…

Hitti, Fred J.; And Others – 1971
The feasibility of administering some tests directly under computer management was investigated with Raven's Progressive Matrices Test (RPMT), a nonverbal test of general aptitude, chosen as the instrument for the study. Subjects were 76 deaf students in a vocationally-oriented postsecondary educational program. Half of the subjects were tested…

Harris, William U. – Educational Technology, 1976
Hypotheses for the decline in the Scholastic Aptitude Test scores can be listed under four headings: changes in society, changes in the schools, changes in the testing population, and problems with the tests. However, it is concluded that SAT scores are still constant and reliable measures. (JY)

Werts, C. E.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1978
A procedure for estimating the reliability of a factorially complex composite is considered. An application of its use with Scholastic Aptitude Test data is provided. (Author/JKS)

Lovett, Hubert T. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1978
The validity of five methods of estimating the reliability of criterion-referenced tests was evaluated across nine conditions of variability among item means. The results were analyzed by analysis of variance, the Newman-Keuls test, and a nonparametric procedure. There was a tendency for all of the methods to be conservative. (Author/JKS)

Stauffer, A. J. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1978
Agreement among independent ratings assigned by members of observation teams administering an interview schedule was studied. The appropriateness of selection requirements and the adequacy of observer training are reviewed. Implications are drawn from the objectivity of the ratings for the estimated reliability and validity of the interview…

Knapp, Robert R.; Knapp, Lila – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1978
The Personal Orientation Dimensions scale, a refinement of the Personal Orientation Inventory, is investigated. Results support the concurrent validity of the Personal Orientation Dimensions scale, and the construct validity of both scales. (JKS)

Parish, Thomas S.; Taylor, James C. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1978
The Personal Attribute Inventory for Children (Parish) and the Piers-Harris Childrens Self Concept Scale were administered to samples of third and sixth grade children. Test-retest reliability and correlations between scales support the usefulness of both scales. (JKS)

Warren, W. G.; Chopra, P. N. – Omega: Journal of Death and Dying, 1978
Data derived from an administration of the Death Anxiety Scale to Australian samples are analyzed with a view to providing comparative cross-cultural observations, as well as some indication of reliability and validity in the Australian context. (Author)

Hill, A. Lewis – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1978
Scaled scores on Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale subtests were compared among five samples of institutionalized mentally retarded (aged 16 - 71 years) from the east coast (509 Ss), west coast (436 Ss), and three from the midwest (113, 51, and 111 Ss). (Author/PHR)

Baker, Eugene A.; And Others – Psychology in the Schools, 1978
The Missouri Children's Picture Series is explored as an assessment tool for boys in residential treatment. Extreme ease of administration is an attractive feature of the test. The test is better administered to disturbed boys in two sittings, to offset their distractibility and short attention span. (Author)
