Students using colored line drawings scored higher on criterion tests than those using realistic drawings, photographs, or black-and-white drawings in a programmed booklet describing the structure and function of the human heart. Concludes visual aids have beneficial effects but visuals in and of themselves do not necessarily enhance comprehension.
