Using a survey method, the study examined barriers to participation for rural adult learners in the Northwest. Important factors found were family and community support, availability of reentry programs, geographic location, costs, and availability of information about adult education programs. Investigated incidence of eating disorders among 584 women living in university residence halls and differences in prevalence rates between single-sex and co-ed floors. Results revealed a significantly higher incidence of bulimic symptomatology on co-ed floors than on single-sex floors. (Author/NB)

A new system for conceptualizing college students' problems, which is more comprehensive and practical than those based solely on DSM-III psychiatric diagnosis, is proposed. Examined the potential impact of the recent economic recession in Canada on the school environment, using data from 3,724 school-based educators.
