Since 1933, elementary and secondary student-teacher ratios have decreased, while ratios in college have increased. Until the late 1960s, the high birth rate and increasing proportion of college students demanded more teachers. Current enrollments in bachelor of education programs are three to four times too high for teacher demand. (CP)

Analyzes data collected from 132 liberal arts colleges to determine the motivating factors for the presence of gender-oriented courses. Results suggest that highly ranked, nonreligiously affiliated schools are most likely to support these courses. Many also are found in larger economics departments with a high percentage of women students. (MJP)

Multivariate statistical analysis determined relationships between scores on the Otis-Lennon School Ability Test and the Stanford Achievement Test at grades 2, 4, and 6 for 272 students. The best predictor of achievement at a later grade was achievement at an earlier grade. Implications are discussed. (SLD)

Examines gender differences in satisfaction with the host society in a sample of 1,384 Indochinese refugees, ages 17 to 73 years.
