Tokar, David M.; Swanson, Jane L. – Journal of Vocational Behavior, 1995
Holland's Self-Directed Search and NEO Five-Factor Inventory were completed by 146 males and 213 females. Brown, Steven D; Gore, Paul A., Jr. – Journal of Vocational Behavior, 1994
Using simulated data a study comparing 10 congruence measures found none of the 3-letter Holland codes sensitive to differences among persons and incapable of distinguishing persons with like but out-of-order person-environment codes. A second study identified an interest congruence measure that is easier to calculate. (SK)

Lent, Ellen B.; Lopez, Frederick G. – Journal of Vocational Behavior, 1996
At 2 sites information was collected from 168 workers, and their 3-letter Holland work environment codes were crossed with 3 measures of person-environment congruence. All three measures were strongly intercorrelated. The way a job was coded had a significant effect on the calculation of congruence. (SK)

Heimlich, Joe E.; Norland, Emmalou – New Directions for Adult and Continuing Education, 2002

Doxtader, Erik – Quarterly Journal of Speech, 2003
What is reconciliation? A source of historical puzzlement and contemporary controversy over how to make history, this question asks after those words which constitute a beginning (again), that moment in which endless cycles of conflict give way to the hope for "unity in difference." Concerned with the dynamics of its operation, the present essay…

Two versions of a counselor self-efficacy (CSE) measure were administered to 110 prepracticum counselors: a general version, assessing perceived capability to perform basic helping skills and manage the session process with clients generally; and a client-specific version, tapping capability to perform the same behaviors with a specific, current…

Kaemmer, 1989) code types in a sample of 94 injured workers with a mean test-retest interval of 21.3 months (SD = 14.1). Congruence rates for undefined code types were 34% for…

Ibanez, Agustin; Lopez, Vladimir; Cornejo, Carlos – Brain and Language, 2006
This study explores whether the brain can discriminate degrees of semantic congruency during wakefulness and sleep. Experiment 1 was conducted during wakefulness to test degrees of congruency by means of N400 amplitude. In Experiment 2, the same paradigm was applied to a different group of participants during natural night sleep. Stimuli were 108…

Obermesik, John W.; Beehr, Terry A. – 1992
A majority of the congruence-satisfaction literature has used interest measures based on Holland's theory, although the measures' accuracy in predicting job satisfaction is questionable. Divergent findings among studies on occupational congruence-job satisfaction may be due to ineffective measures of congruence and job satisfaction and lack of…

Levine, Karen S.; Hennessy, James J. – 1989
Previous research has suggested that similarities and differences in specific personality factors are associated with differences in marital stability.
