A problem-oriented approach originally designed for patient record keeping by Dr. Lawrence Weed was adapted to facilitate decision making by administrators of student health care services at the University of Southern California. A description of the approach is given, and reactions of staff members are described. (PP)

Three developments over the past 15 years--our understanding of cognition, new techniques in technical psychometrics, and the computer explosion--form the basis for a proposal for new intelligence tests. Describes a program for training people to apply generic problem-solving techniques to personal problems. Male student volunteers (N=64) were assigned to a training group or no-training control group.
