Berry, Louis H.; Dwyer, Francis M. – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1982
Undergraduates of different levels of ability (IQ) profited differentially from color cueing of instructional materials pertaining to the human heart. Bonvillian, John D. – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1983
This study examined 40 deaf and 20 hearing adolescent students' free recall of visually presented words varied systematically with respect of signability (i.e., words that could be expressed by a single sign) and visual imagery. Results underline the importance of sign language in the memory and recall of deaf persons. (Author/PN)
Descriptors: Adolescents, American Sign Language, Deafness, Finger Spelling

Kella, John J. – Music Educators Journal, 1982
Describes Lincer's eight-part, innovative program for string instrument instruction used at the Julliard School of Music. Descriptors: Educational Innovation, Kinesthetic Methods, Music Education, Relaxation Training

Rose, Susan A. – Child Development, 1981
Two studies of visual recognition memory in infants demonstrated 9-month-olds had greater retention ability than 6-month-olds. Six-month-old infants had difficulty recognizing stimuli over short delays, even when distractors were absent. Results are discussed in terms of memory changes possibly occurring at 9 months. (Author/DB)
Descriptors: Age Differences, Extinction (Psychology), Infants, Memory

Irwin, Judith Westphal – Reading Improvement, 1979
Reports the findings of an investigation into the relationships among college readers' reading achievement, vividness of visual imagery, and reading attitudes. Concludes that a small but significant negative correlation exists between the achievement and imagery variables and that a moderate partial correlation exists between imagery and attitude…

Fiske, Susan T.; And Others – Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, 1979
In a study to test whether imagery accounts for the effects of empathy on attributions, it was determined that the imagery explanation of empathy effects was untenable and that the recall of perspective-relevant details was unlikely to mediate attributions of causality in imaginary scenarios. (Author/MH)

McGee, Mark G. – Journal of Psychology, 1978
Finds support for the hypothesis that individuals who prefer a visualization strategy will obtain higher scores on the "Mental Rotation Test" than individuals who prefer an orientation strategy. (RL)

Holman, Linda R.; And Others – Journal of Educational Research, 1979
This study investigates performance differences between reflective and impulsive subjects on a recognition memory task. Results indicate that verbal recognition memory is sensitive to both cognitive style and presentation mode. (JMF)
