Steer, Robert A.; And Others – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1986
The Beck Depression Inventory was administered to 35 outpatients diagnosed as primary generalized anxiety disorders and 101 outpatients diagnosed as primary major-depression and dysthymic disorders. A backward stepwise-discriminant analysis revealed that Sadness and Loss of Libido were the only two symptoms that meaningfullly distinguished between…

Van Der Flier, Henk; And Others – Journal of Educational Measurement, 1984
Two strategies for assessing item bias are discussed: methods comparing item difficulties unconditional on ability and methods comparing probabilities of response conditional on ability. Results suggest that the iterative logit method is an improvement on the noniterative one and is efficient in detecting biased and unbiased items. (Author/DWH)

Rogers, T. B. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1973
Separate groups of judges rated the degree of autonomy, impulsivity and desirability in a set of 60 items comprising 20 items from each of the three scales. Results indicated that the judges were able, through their ratings, to identify the scales to which the items belonged. The results were discussed in relation to facet analysis, and the…

Bart, William M.; Krus, David J. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1973
With the ordering-theoretic method of item hierarchy construction any array of bivalued item data can be analyzed to determine the item hierarchy structure. (Authors)

Hunter, John E. – Journal of Educational Measurement, 1973
Using the notion of parallel items this paper presents a family of new criteria for cluster analysis. (Author)

Schubert, Daniel S. P.; Fiske, Donald W. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1973
The conclusion of the present experiment was that prior response increases item consistency, but only when the prior experience involves the same item with the same instructions. (Authors)

Smith, Ephraim P.; Sosnowski, Tead S. – Journal of Experimental Education, 1972
The randomized response model described in this study works against the types of bias which make faculty evaluation surveys unreliable. (Authors/CB)

Ebel, Robert L. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1972
Author supports the credibility of the propositions that: (1) the true component of a score is proportional to the number of equivalent elements that contribute to it. And, (2) the error component of a score is proportional to the square root of the number of equivalent elements that contribute to it. (Author/MB)
