Describes a block nursing program established in St. Paul, Minnesota that focused on nursing care delivered by neighbor to neighbor, enabling older people to remain independent as long as possible through health education, disease prevention, and maintenance. (JOW)

The roving inservice is an approach to continuing education which enables the program to be located in multiple nursing units simultaneously for the convenience of the nurses and without an instructor. (SSH)

The 1975 predictions made by William Rhodes concerning the mental health system are critiqued. It is suggested that Rhodes' predictions represent a utopian view and that he underestimated both the power of conservative social stability and the social reality on which the stability is based. (SEW)

Makes general observations about youth services in the United Kingdom, Denmark, Sweden, The Netherlands, Poland, and Czechoslovakia. Describes the implementation of a collaborative discharge planning program for a chronic psychiatric population. Emphasizes the importance of good communication between patient and professionals. College health services today have the responsibility for bringing a wide range of health education and medical, dental, and mental health services to a changing population of college students. The history of student health is described, and recommendations are made for the efficient handling of acute problems by college health services. (JN)

Discusses a study undertaken to assess student evaluations of a behavior analyst program at Bowling Green State University. Analysis of survey data from students who had completed the program since 1973 indicates that students are generally very supportive of the program and that many of them continue to participate in the mental health field. Data indicate that practice by unqualified personnel, financial exploitation, and sexual exploitation are the most frequent types of misconduct by mental health practitioners. Solutions to these problems lie in the areas of regulation, education of counselors-in-training, and education of consumers of mental health services. (Author)

In order for health program evaluation to keep up with the evolution of disease patterns and epidemiology, a systems approach is proposed. Recommendations are made for the essential element in such an approach, namely, an integrated, comprehensive data base. (Author/AL)
