Brady, W. G. – Math Teacher, 1970
Descriptors: Algebra, Geometric Concepts, Graphs, Instruction

Boomer, Lyman W. – Arithmetic Teacher, 1969
Descriptors: Arithmetic, Elementary School Mathematics, Graphs, Instruction

Lee, Kil S.; Marx, Wayne – Mathematics Teacher, 1983
Procedures to help algebra students solve problems more efficiently are discussed, using linear programing graphs. (MNS)
Descriptors: Algebra, Graphs, Mathematical Applications, Mathematics Instruction

Drew, David E. – Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis, 1983
This paper presents a new technique in which covariates are controlled and evaluation data still are presented graphically in a manner that makes sense to policy makers. An illustration is provided using data drawn from an evaluation by the author of a major National Science Foundation (NSF) university funding program. (Author)
Descriptors: Control Groups, Data, Evaluation, Experimental Groups
Structure and Process in Pupils' Essays: A Graphical Analysis of the Organisation of Extended Prose.

Costa Pereira, D.J.V.; Maskill, R. – British Journal of Educational Psychology, 1983
Suggests a method for analyzing structure and process in prose using algorithms based on graph theory and rules based in syntax. Describes application of the method to essays written by 52 fourteen year old pupils on a newly learned topic in chemistry. (Author/GC)
Descriptors: Algorithms, Behavior, Evaluation Methods, Graphs
Boruch, Robert F.; Wohlstetter, Priscilla – Contemporary Education Review, 1983
The "Condition of Education" is an annual statistical report about education in the United States. This review describes and comments on the publication's data selection data presentation, prose interpretation, and the quality of the statistics. Options for improving the publication are discussed. (BW)
Descriptors: Data Collection, Educational Indicators, Federal Programs, Graphs

Luyben, Paul D.; And Others – College and Research Libraries, 1981
Discusses an experiment on controlling library noise by rearrangement of furniture groupings and the separation of existing clusters of furniture. While electromechanical tests showed no significant differences, user measures indicated more acceptable noise levels. There are numerous illustrations and 30 references. (RAA)
Descriptors: College Libraries, Diagrams, Electromechanical Technology, Furniture Arrangement

Wainer, Howard – Applied Psychological Measurement, 1980
A test of graphicacy was developed, administered to third- through fifth-grade schoolchildren, and scored using the Rasch model. Third-grade children were much poorer at reading graphs than fourth- or fifth-grade children, but the differences between these latter two groups were modest. (Author/JKS)
Descriptors: Elementary Education, Grade 3, Grade 4, Grade 5
Shore, M. L. – Creative Computing, 1980
There are many uses for the shortest path algorithm presented which are limited only by our ability to recognize when a problem may be converted into the shortest path in a graph representation. (Author/TG)
Descriptors: Algorithms, Computer Programs, Graphs, Mathematical Concepts

Gibson, Robert W., Jr.; Kunkel, Barbara K. – Special Libraries, 1980
Explores the state-of-the-art of Japanese information activities, detailing the comprehensive national plan Japan has developed. The volume of scientific and technological publications is discussed: monographs and technical reports briefly, and periodicals in more depth, including subject areas, language of publication, and accessibility to…
Descriptors: Cataloging, Graphs, Information Centers, Information Networks
Mathematics Teaching, 1980
Four different types of problems from graph theory are presented and discussed. (MK)
Descriptors: Algorithms, Graphs, Higher Education, Mathematical Applications

Davis, Charles H.; Shaw, Debora – Journal of the American Society for Information Science, 1979
Random samples of monographic materials from U.S. and Canadian public libraries were matched with collections from similar libraries of different sizes. Strong positive correlation appears between percentage find rate and target library size, with regression analysis suggesting linearity over a wide range of collection sizes. (Author)
Descriptors: Comparative Analysis, Graphs, Library Collections, Library Networks

Derby, Stanley K. – School Science and Mathematics, 1979
This experiment designed for beginning physics students, is related to postal regulations restricting the size of envelopes. A graph is constructed that allows for testing the mailability of envelopes. (MP)
Descriptors: Graphs, Higher Education, Instruction, Learning Activities

Schwandt, Alice Kaseberg – Mathematics Teacher, 1979
This discussion of ways to use spirolaterals in the classroom includes making conjectures, hypotheses testing, and proofs, as well as a number of examples. (MP)
Descriptors: Discovery Learning, Graphs, Instruction, Learning Activities

Marcus, B. Jerry – NASSP Bulletin, 1977
Suggests that before secondary principals can deal effectively with discipline problems, they should graph disciplinary incidents according to the school calendar in order to identify peak behavioral problem periods. (JG)
Descriptors: Behavior Patterns, Discipline, Discipline Problems, Graphs
