Developing a Suicide Potential Scale for a number of socially differentiated, stratified census tract populations in a northern city, this paper argues that scores on this scale are related to actual suicidal behavior. Loo, Robert – Suicide and Life-Threatening Behavior, 1986
Reports the results of a study of suicide among 35 members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The average annual rate (14.1 per 100,000) of suicide in this force was approximately one-half that of the comparable general population, and the most common means of suicide was by service revolver (77% of cases).

Spaulding, John M. – Omega: Journal of Death and Dying, 1986
Investigated the rate of completed suicides for 10 Ojibwa Indian bands in northwestern Ontario between 1975 and 1982. Results indicated 61.7 suicides per 100,000 population.
