Smith, Alan D. – 1985
The use of computer graphic techniques with basic student enrollment statistics is examined to promote understanding of changes in student flow as a function of spatial distribution. Basic initial student enrollment data that serve as input into predictive flow models were modeled at Eastern Kentucky University. The following commercially…

Albrecht, Klaus – International Journal of Mathematical Education in Science and Technology, 1974
A graphical method is proposed which allows one to visualize a real matrix and its inverse. In this scheme, various special properties of the matrix are easily recognized. Up to 5x5 matrices can be graphed on an average page if the range of values does not exceed two orders of magnitude. (Author/LS)

Rose, Kenneth – Mathematics Teacher, 1974
Two new types of graph paper are described; focus-focus conic paper and focus-directrix paper. Both types make it easier to draw families of conics. Suggestions for further work are given as is a method for establishing a connection with other ways of looking at the conic sections. (LS)

A REVISION OF THE READABILITY GRAPH WITH DIRECTIONS FOR ITS USE AND VALIDTIY DATA ARE PRESENTED. THE USE OF THE GRAPH INVOLVES WORD SAMPLES, NUMBER OF SENTENCES, AND NUMBER OF SYLLABLES. THE LATTER TWO ARE PLOTTED ON A GRAPH TO ASCERTAIN GRADE LEVELS. THE CORRELATIONS OF THE READABILITY GRAPH WITH THE DALE-CHALL, FLESCH, AND SPACHE FORMULAS ARE…

Holden, Herbert L. – 1978
The goal of this pamphlet is to provide instructors of various scientific disciplines with mathematically accurate graphs of elementary polynomial functions. The figures in this pamphlet are intended to provide suitable material for the preparation of classroom handouts and overhead transparencies. In addition, sample sets of exercises are…

McElreath, Mark P. – 1979
Graphic statistics as developed by John Tukey have some practical benefits for precision journalists as they assist in spotting trends not as easily noted without the use of nonparametric statistics. Some especially helpful graphic statistics are: "stem-and-leaf display,""box plots,""froots," and "flogs."…

Women's Bureau (DOL), Washington, DC. – 1967
INFORMATION ABOUT THE STATUS OF WORKING WOMEN AND THEIR UNDERUTILIZATION IN THE NATIONAL WORK FORCE IS PRESENTED IN SUMMARY AND GRAPH FORM. ALTHOUGH PROGRESS HAS BEEN MADE IN ASSURING WOMEN EQUALITY OF PAY AND NONDISCRIMINATION IN EMPLOYMENT, MUCH NEEDS TO BE DONE TO IMPROVE THE UTILIZATION OF THEIR ABILITIES. MOST WOMEN WORK TO SUPPORT THEMSELVES…

The Position Analysis Questionnaire (PAQ) is a structured job analysis procedure that provides for the analysis of jobs in terms of each of 187 job elements, these job elements being grouped into six divisions: information input, mental processes, work output, relationships with other persons, job context, and other job characteristics. Two…

Nicolich, Mark J. – 1975
Several statistical techniques that can be used to ameliorate the difficulties inherent in the data analysis of longitudinal studies are presented. The first step in longitudinal data analysis is graphing. This permits visual inspection of the data, and with educated viewing can yield insights into the nature of the underlying mechanisms. The next…

Ellis, M. J. – 1969
This paper attempts a unified explanation of such apparently non-utilitarian behaviors as curiosity, manipulation, and exploration as manifestations of "playful behaviors" on the one hand and stereotyped responses on the other. Sensorhesis names the new theory offered to explain the existence and nature of playful behavior. Play and stereotyped…
