Compared 31 divorced and 28 remarried mothers to study differences in their sense of competence and well-being. Results showed remarried mothers had a higher sense of competence and satisfaction in the areas of love, community, and homemaking. Differences in income were significant. (JAC)

Results show a decline in the propensity to follow a conventional pattern of leaving the work force due to marriage or childbirth. Assessed the effects of cohabitation on subsequent marital adjustment. A comparison of couples (N=54) who had lived together before marriage with couples (N=30) who had not, showed significant differences. Analysis of survey data indicated that in general, attitudes of Whites toward residential integration became more liberal between 1958 and 1967. Compared physically abused male preschoolers (N=11) with nonabused matched controls on the McCarthy Scales of Children's Abilities and the Wide Range Achievement Test. Compared homeless aged men who live on the Bowry or in hotel rooms in New York City. Results showed homelessness is not a uniform category.
