From "Pippi Longstocking" to Global Feminist: Incorporating Gender and Feminist Teaching into My Geographical Life
Kim, Eje
International Research in Geographical and Environmental Education, v21 n4 p321-326 2012
This is an autobiographical account of my geographical education. As a child I explored places far different from my home in S. Korea through my readings of children's literature--Pippi Longstocking in particular. My school experiences in Seoul did little to educate me geographically. This paper describes significant transformations during my life. I explore how I have become a funky geographer who travels the world like a small butterfly in search of happy, exciting and beautiful places.
