Pedagogical Uses of Technology in Physical Education
Juniu, Susana
Journal of Physical Education, Recreation & Dance (JOPERD), v82 n9 p41-49 Nov-Dec 2011
Teachers' subject and pedagogical knowledge requires an understanding of the relationship between various elements, rather than thinking of them in isolation. In order to teach in a given discipline, the teacher must have knowledge of the subject, an understanding of the best teaching strategies for presenting the content, and knowledge of the learners' characteristics and of the educational context (e.g., the gymnasium). This article examines the technological pedagogical content knowledge framework as a way of preparing physical educators to integrate technology in the teaching and learning process and to represent subject matter with technology in pedagogically appropriate ways. With this approach, preservice teachers learn to design successful, technology-integrated projects in physical education. (Contains 4 tables.)
