Elementary school principals are a unique group of administrators. They often operate in complete isolation. They usually have no assistant to talk to and they cannot talk about confidential matters with their staff. Whom, then, do principals talk to? This study sought to determine those to whom principals talk when they need help, advice, or just want to let off a little steam. This study also identified who helped them during the first few years of becoming principals. Fifty-two elementary principals were surveyed from throughout the United States. Responses were grouped into general categories and results analyzed. Findings indicate that principals seek out other principals they trust to discuss confidential matters in their professional lives. (Contains 4 tables.)
