The case study discussed in this article investigated how the district leadership team of one high-performing school district utilized the Baldrige model to implement a system of continuous improvement. Data sources included the district's Baldrige application and feedback report, interviews of the district leadership team, focus group interviews of Board of Education members and parents, and observations of leadership teams. Findings indicated that, although the district previously had utilized a fragmented approach to improvement, the leadership team was now operating in a systemic fashion, with improvement initiatives interconnected. The team had improved in the areas of strategic planning, focus, and data utilization and feedback. An action plan was developed within weeks of receiving the feedback report, and positive results were being obtained within 6 months of implementation of action plans.
