""Delicious" Politics"--The Use of Social Bookmarking in Politics Teaching
Lightfoot, Simon
Journal of Political Science Education, v8 n1 p94-101 2012
This case study highlights the use of the social bookmarking site "Delicious" on a Level 2 module "Governing the EU." The nature of politics as a discipline is that it is constantly evolving such that new developments and policies emerge almost every day. It is therefore imperative that the students keep on top of these developments and crucially engage with them in a critical manner. Social bookmarking was identified as a relatively simple and easy to use way for students to compile and share information on the EU from newspapers, think tanks, and even increasingly journal articles and to play an active role in creating their own reading lists. This article identifies a number of benefits and issues that the use of social bookmarking raises in a blended learning environment and offers advice for anyone thinking of using similar tools.
