Promoting Public Policy that Supports Healthy Infants and Toddlers
Rappaport, Debbie M.
Zero to Three (J), v30 n5 p35-38 May 2010
The earliest years of life are critical to providing a foundation for good health. Providing adequate health care early can prevent many of the physical, social-emotional, and cognitive impairments that children could face in the future. The recent landmark health reform package signed into law includes important elements that positively affect infants, toddlers, and their families. The author describes some of the components of the new law and provides principles that early childhood professionals can use to advocate for policies that will help ensure the physical health and well-being of all infants and toddlers.
