Parking Smarter
Wendling, Bridget Gorman
Community College Journal, v81 n5 p62-65, 67, 69 Apr-May 2011
As community colleges continue to experience record enrollments, administrators must face the challenges of growth. The unprecedented growth in community college enrollment is due to both the rising expense of higher education at four-year institutions and the number of people returning to school to train for careers in higher demand. However, surge in enrollment demands strategic parking solutions. Faced with full parking lots, frustrated commuter students, and inadequate infrastructure, many colleges have considered hiring a qualified parking professional to help them develop a parking management plan. This article offers tips in meeting the parking needs of community colleges. It features an article by Gayle Lynn Falkenthal which focuses on how a college and a district launched a campaign that prioritizes students to park on campus. Some online parking resources are presented.
