Scarce resources mean employees cannot afford to lose a moment of their day to repetitive or useless tasks. This author accompanied learners from a large financial institution in New York City and describes in this article how a productivity workshop can make a difference. The workshop leader, Jason W. Womack, suggested the following "quick tips" to increase productivity: (1) Approach improvements with "coulds" rather than "shoulds"; (2) "Download" your thoughts following a meeting or event by using recording tools; (3) Make two to-do lists-- one that is action oriented, and another that is reserved for topics or upcoming events; (4) Write down everything you do from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. during the course of one day, and come up with a solution when you find something that is not working; (5) Arrange your e-mail system so that you do not have to switch back and forth from your inbox to your online calendar; (6) Prioritize e-mails based on usefulness and action; and (7) Keep an updated to-do list for each of your colleagues to reduce the number of times you need to interrupt a supervisor to ask questions.
