Libraries Welcome Food amid the Books
Foster, Andrea L.
Education Digest: Essential Readings Condensed for Quick Review, v74 n2 p56-57 Oct 2008
People are recognizing that food in the library is an irresistible force. Fed by a desire to make libraries more inviting places for students to work in groups, many colleges are installing cafes in their libraries. Food has always been a part of late-night study gatherings. If eating encourages collaborative learning, the theory goes, let there be food in the library, too. The change is also a capitulation to students. The author describes how the change has been well received by students and alumni, some of whom have voiced their approval on Facebook.
