In this article, the author shares one effective lesson idea on straight line graphs that he applied in his lower ability Y9 class. The author wanted something interesting for his class to do, something that was fun and engaging with direct feedback, and something that worked because someone else had tried it before. In a word, the author admits he was after a quick solution for a successful lesson and after some searching found the idea on his pen drive. It was actually very brief and precise: Writing one's initials with "Autograph" using straight line graphs where one can limit the domain by using start-up options. The author shares that the lesson not only helped his students to have correct initials but beautiful ones too. His students experimented with line thickness and colour. He concludes that teachers should not re-invent the wheel for everything they want to do.
