Argentina and Education for Sustainable Development
Andelman, Marta
Applied Environmental Education and Communication, v4 n3 p247-250 2005
In Argentina, few groups recognize the value of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). The Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD) carries no significant weight in governmental and nongovernmental circles. It does not appear in any agenda, or in any suggestion or recommendation for policy-making, not even in proposals for decision-making, in the public or private sector, in any public or private area. This article provides a little background of the movements and initiatives in Argentina where environmental education becomes integrated, and highlights some challenges that government organizations, national associations, and key sectors should address in promoting public recognition of ESD.
