From Zero to Web 2.0: Part 3
Woodard, Amber
Computers in Libraries, v30 n1 p27-28 Jan-Feb 2010
When the Vise Library at Cumberland University set down the path to their digital makeover, they were optimistic that they could completely revolutionize their library's web presence. They tried to keep their goals manageable, but it turns out they did not "quite" achieve 100% success. In this article, the author describes how they have done with regard to reaching their goals which are: (1) Create a more user-friendly and dynamic website; (2) Activate and maintain accounts on social networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter; (3) Produce a library blog that allows students, staff, and faculty to learn about library news and events without having to wait on the biannual library newsletter; (4) Implement text reference services and improve the chat reference services; (5) Establish a library YouTube account, make fun and informative videos about library services and databases, and create a virtual tour of the building for distance education students; and (6) Podcast Claire Walker's class sessions and the library's iRead sessions.
