Valkyrie, Karena T.; Creamer, D. Andrew; Vaughn, Leila
Alabama Counseling Association Journal, v34 n1 p18-33 Spr 2008
Child abuse and neglect is a serious problem across our nation, and the consequences can be far reaching. Laws were enacted to address child abuse and identify mandatory reporters, including school counselors. In the literature, school counselors regularly report systemic and personal obstacles that influence their compliance with the mandatory reporting laws. A review of the reporting laws, the obstacles to reporting, and possible solutions are presented. (Contains 2 figures.)
