Blackwell, Sarah C.; Pepper, Kaye
Current Issues in Education, v12 n10 2009
Quality teacher education programs recognize the importance of field experiences in preparing teacher candidates. A field experience planned during the first days of school is invaluable to the success of a new teacher. The School of Education faculty at The University of Mississippi took on the challenge of implementing a first days of school field experience which proved to be beneficial to the teacher candidates. The information provided in this article explains the steps involved in implementing the plan, as well as the perceptions of the teacher candidates regarding the experience during the preparation program and later during their first year of teaching.
