Great Expectations of ICT? "Oh Sairey, Sairey, Little Do We Know Wot Lays Afore Us!"
Downs, Christopher J.; Palmer, Vivienne
Higher Education Review, v41 n3 p45-56 Sum 2009
The UK' s Joint Information Systems Committee recently commissioned Ipsos MORI to undertake some research on students' expectations and experiences of the use of ICT in higher education. In this article we attempt to give a flavour of the research findings and comment on some key issues in connection with the use of ICT in higher education. The report suggests high levels of student satisfaction but also that the potential benefits of ICT are not yet being realised. There is evidence that attitudes to learning among students and perhaps also academics contribute to limiting the benefits actually being gained at present.
