Super Silkscreening
Clyne-Ruch, Denise
SchoolArts: The Art Education Magazine for Teachers, v109 n2 p36-37 Oct 2009
After studying the endangered species prints of Andy Warhol, and viewing several interviews with the artist, fifth-grade students were still hungry for more information about this eccentric artist, who tested every rule and broke most of them. In this article, the author describes a project using silkscreen to help students truly understand how Warhol created his prints and how complicated a process it is to print in multiple colors. An additional result of this project was that students became aware of how prevalent the silkscreen process is in the products they purchase and learned how to recognize if their own T-shirts and backpacks were printed with this process.
