Today's students have used computers their entire lives. Their school classrooms, however, have often held only a handful of computers. Teachers and students have lamented that they needed a computer for every person. For some school districts, one-to-one computing may be a dream; but for the districts who believe students must use technology effectively and efficiently to be successful in the 21st century, one-to-one computing becomes the reality. The authors' district made that commitment and their experiences can help other districts create a successful one-to-one computer program in their schools. The authors share the concepts they have used for their one-to-one computing program. A list of program pitfalls and solutions is discussed. (Contains 13 resources.)
