Damage Caused by the Rogue Trustee
O'Banion, Terry
Community College Journal of Research and Practice, v33 n7 p547-563 2009
Fifty-nine community college presidents and chancellors in 16 states report on the damage caused by rogue trustees. While the damage to presidents, other trustees, and faculty and staff is alarming, the damage these trustees cause the college suggests that the rogue trustee may be the single most destructive force ever to plague an educational institution. Individuals can resign or retire from an institution, but the college remains in the community where the damage of a rogue trustee is insidious and long-range. Some readers will find these accounts of damage disturbing; in the next article, the participating presidents offer a number of creative strategies for addressing the problems created by rogue trustees.
