Brey, Rebecca A.; Clark, Susan E.; Wantz, Molly S.
Journal of School Health, v77 n9 p640-644Nov 2007
The second National Health Education Standard states the importance of student demonstration of the ability to access valid health information and services. The teaching technique presented in this article provides an opportunity for children and adolescents to develop their health literacy and advocacy skills by contributing to a class resource file of health information, products, and services organized into the 4 health education settings. As an introduction to the lesson, the teacher may adapt the following information addressing health literacy, accessing valid sources of health information, health advocacy, and the 4 settings of health education for presentation to his or her students.
