The Davideon Project: Capitalizing the Possibilities of Streaming Video as Flexible Learning Objects for the Humanities
Rosendaal, Andre; Oomen, Johan
Innovate: Journal of Online Education, v2 n1 Oct-Nov 2005
Streaming video is a potentially revolutionary tool in humanities courses. The Davideon project, a large-scale effort conducted by the University of Groningen in conjunction with the University of Amsterdam, Windesheim University, and the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision, focused on integrating audiovisual materials into pedagogically sound learning environments. Andre Rosendaal and Johan Oomen outline the project and analyze its learning, technical, organizational, and pedagogical outcomes. Their work has become a proven basis of streamlined service for Dutch higher education and provides a model for successful implementation of a widely available technology into a rich learning environment.
