The fact that the time is always now is probably most relevant to understanding the past and present, to construct the future. Each person has a past that grows continuously, a present that will only grow if allowed to use some of the future, and a future that will ultimately end. In this article, the author uses the book "Mindset! Reset Your Thinking and See the Future" (Naisbitt, 2006) to provide some insight on how to reset one's thinking to view the future. Before one can have a clearer vision of the future, it is important to have the appropriate mindset. In Naisbitt's book eleven mindsets were identified: (1) While many things change, most things remain constant; (2) The future is embedded in the present; (3) Focus on the game; (4) Understanding how powerful it is not to have to be right; (5) See the future as a picture puzzle; (6) Don't get so far ahead of the parade that people don't know you're in it; (7) Resistance to change falls if benefits are real; (8) Things that we expect to happen always happen more slowly; (9) You don't get results by solving problems but by exploiting opportunities; (10) Don't add unless you subtract; and (11) Don't forget the ecology of technology. The author covers each one briefly. Using these mindsets when examining the future of kinesiology and physical education may provide an opportunity to better envision that future.
