Student and Peer Evaluation: Feedback for All Learners
Carr, Sonya C.
TEACHING Exceptional Children, v40 n5 p24-30 May-Jun 2008
Assessment for learning provides feedback to improve teaching and learning in the classroom. However, many teachers focus on measuring what students have learned at the end of a unit of instruction and fail to allow opportunities for feedback and revision during instruction. As Bransford, Brown, and Cocking (2000) explained, "Feedback is fundamental to learning, but opportunities to receive it are often scarce in classrooms" (p. 154). This article describes self-evaluation and peer evaluation and provides guidelines for implementation in the classroom. (Contains 4 figures.)
