Campus Internationalization: A Study of American Universities' Internationalization Efforts
Hser, May P.
International Education, v35 n1 p35-48 Fall 2005
In recognizing the need for internationalization, many universities and colleges in the United States are making great efforts to internationalize their institutions in order to prepare their students to live and work in the global society of the twenty-first century. This study examines different institutional responses to the need for internationalization and the extent of their internationalization efforts. Despite problems and obstacles, American colleges and universities are making efforts toward internationalizing their programs in different ways. Many of them include internationalization in their agendas and develop strategic planning to foster internationalization efforts. However, the current status of internationalization varies from institution to institution.
