Planning of a Student Peer Program as a Key Component of a Campus Suicide Prevention Project: Utilizing NAPP Programmatic Standards
Wozny, Darren A.; Porter, Julia Y.; Watson, Joshua C.
Perspectives in Peer Programs, v21 n2 p48-58 Fall 2008
Campus students are most likely to confide with other students (Brownson, 2007). Thus, the student peer program's rationale is that it is a vital component of our campus suicide prevention project's purpose to early identify at-risk students, engage at-risk students, and utilize appropriate helping interventions (may include referral to the campus's counseling services). However, it is difficult to train all commuter campus students, therefore, necessitating the need for development of the student peer program.
