Conversations with California Community College Librarians and Deans of Learning Resources Programs: Library and Learning Resource Program Issues and Network Applications
Norman, Carolyn F.; Siminitus, Jackie
Community & Junior College Libraries, v13 n2 p17-35 2005
"Conversations with California Community College Librarians" is a snapshot in time at a time when colleges are swelling with new students, technology is surging ahead, and campus revenues are not keeping pace with growth or modernization needs. College library collections and services are increasingly technology-dependent. College library network applications include carefully selected and purchased e-Databases, library automation, library websites, and courses and tutorials such as online information competency/basic skills instruction. An underlying but significant challenge to campus library programs is a need to dispel the myth that everything is available electronically and free. State budget constraints have library leaders looking at how to manage or survive with cuts to electronic databases and staff, which in turn reduces student access to library resources.
