Follow the Money: Part One. Making Sense of the Stimulus and EdTech--A Cheat Sheet
Technology & Learning, v29 n10 p38 May 2009
Secretary of Education Arne Duncan last month announced that $44 billion for states and schools is now available under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009. The Feds hope these monies will, "lay the foundation for a generation of education reform and help save hundreds of thousands of teaching jobs at risk of state and local budget cuts." This article is the first in a three-part series on what the stimulus package means for education technology in America's classrooms. It describes how ARRA funds will be used in integrating technology into public education, specifically in the areas of Title I funds, IDEA grants, and the Enhancing Education Through Technology (EETT) program.
