When Disaster Strikes: Take Steps Now to Plan for Widespread Emergencies
Henderson, Nancy
Exceptional Parent, v39 n2 p62-63, 65 Feb 2009
This article presents part 2 of the series on emergency preparedness. Here, the author offers suggestions that exceptional families can use to prepare for emergencies. While the circumstances--terrorist events, disease epidemics, natural disasters--may vary, emergency preparedness experts agree on one thing: It is important for families, especially those who have children with special needs, to formulate a plan long before the unthinkable happens. The first step, experts say, is to brainstorm with one's family and come up with ideas. (For part 1, see EJ822307.)
