Towards "Inverse" Character Tables? A One-Step Method for Decomposing Reducible Representations
Piquemal, J.-Y.; Losno, R.; Ancian, B.
Journal of Chemical Education, v86 n2 p251-253 Feb 2009
In the framework of group theory, a new procedure is described for a one-step automated reduction of reducible representations. The matrix inversion tool, provided by standard spreadsheet software, is applied to the central part of the character table that contains the characters of the irreducible representation. This method is not restricted to real character tables but works also with the imaginary characters found in pure rotation groups. (Contains 6 tables.)
