Integrating Advanced High School Chemistry Research with Organic Chemistry and Instrumental Methods of Analysis
Kennedy, Brian J.
Journal of Chemical Education, v85 n3 p393-395 Mar 2008
This paper describes and discusses the unique chemistry course opportunities beyond the advanced placement-level available at a science and technology magnet high school. Students may select entry-level courses such as honors and advanced placement chemistry; they may also take electives in organic chemistry with instrumental methods of analysis; and ultimately students may complete the senior chemical analysis research course. Throughout these course offerings students are exposed to an advanced, challenging curriculum that prepares them to be highly successful in a variety of future pursuits. Course sequence details and instructional methods are presented. (Contains 1 table, 1 note and 2 lists.)
