Learning from Our Colleagues: Continuing the Journey
Caccavale, Terry
Learning Languages, v14 n1 p26-30 Fall 2008
Veteran and novice teachers of foreign languages at the Pre-K-8 level often state that visiting classrooms of accomplished teachers is the best professional development they have ever experienced. It is one thing to read about best practices and another to see them in action and then be able to implement them. Having the chance to visit the class of another early language practitioner is something many teachers feel they are missing, especially when they are the only second language teacher working in a particular school or district. The author describes several foreign language programs and professional development centers across the United States that model best practices in the field of early language learning and welcome visitors interested in continuing their own journey of professional development.
