The Teach Web 2.0 Consortium: A Tool to Promote Educational Social Networking and Web 2.0 Use among Educators
Drexler, Wendy; Baralt, Anna; Dawson, Kara
Educational Media International, v45 n4 p271-283 Dec 2008
Social networking is changing the way children communicate. Most of this communication takes place outside of school, though countless Web 2.0 applications are emerging with educational potential. Students may benefit from exposure to the twenty-first century learning principles obtained through the use of emerging web applications. This article describes the design, and implementation of the Teach Web 2.0 Consortium, a wisdom community of educators working together to explore the potential of Web 2.0 tools. Recommendations for establishing similar wisdom communities are also provided. (Contains 4 tables and 2 figures.)
