Has the Social Role of the Intelligentsia Been Exhausted?
Magaril, Sergei Aleksandrovich
Russian Education and Society, v50 n7 p53-69 Jul 2008
In her article, R.V. Ryvkina gave an indication that "the intelligentsia is on the wane" in history, since "humanistic ideals are giving way to technocratic attitudes." While her article answered some questions, it inevitably gave rise to new questions, and they were no less significant. In this article, the author refutes the contentions made by Ryvkina in her article. The author also explains how the social humanities intelligentsia, which are the "major influencers of opinion," are the ones that are on the wane. (Contains 33 notes.)
