Tiernan, Kristine N.; Schenk, Kelli; Swadberg, Danielle; Shimonova, Marianna; Schollaert, Daniel; Boorkman, Patti; Cherrier, Monique M.
Clinical Psychologist, v8 n1 p39-42 Apr 2004
The validity and reliability of a novel route learning test were examined to assess the effectiveness of its use in evaluating spatial memory in healthy older adults and patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD). The Puget Sound Route Learning Test was significantly correlated with an existing measure of cognitive ability, the Dementia Rating Scale. It was also found that the route-learning test was sensitive to cognitive differences between diagnostic groups, providing support for its use with older adults. (Contains 2 tables and 1 figure.)
