Enhanced Aggression Replacement Training with Children and Youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder
Moynahan, Luke
Reclaiming Children and Youth: The Journal of Strength-based Interventions, v12 n3 p174-180 Fall 2003
An enhanced form of Aggression Replacement Training is being used with children and youth with autism spectrum disorder and particularly those with Asperger's Syndrome who present behavioural challenges. Initial results in a Norwegian centre indicate that, with some modifications and enhancements, the programme is an appropriate strategy for improving social competence and replacement of aggressive responding in this population. Enhancement techniques are described that help tailor standard Aggression Replacement Training to the demands of this population. (Contains 1 table and 1 figure.)
